Sound of Music – Do Re Me……. and Edelweiss…..

I am born in Generation X brought up by grandparents born earlier than the silent generation which starts a1920 (My grandad was born in 1917), unfortunately when I look up his generation, there wasn’t a name!

I am brought up by grandfather who were very fond classic movies like the Sound of Music, My Fair lady, Chitti Chitti Bang Bang, the Wizard of Oz, Roman Hoilday , Casblanca, Pride and Prejudice, Little Women and the list is endless.

However I was particularly attached to the “Sound of Music”, to the extent that whenever I need something to cheer me up, I end of watching that movie and sing along all the lovely songs.

The Sound of Music is an iconic film based on an iconic play that made its Broadway debut on this day in 1959. It chronicles the life of Maria von Trapp, whose aspiration to become a nun gets derailed when she becomes a governess to the von Trapp children. … Both were based on the true story of Maria von Trapp’s life.

What it teaches us?

The Sound of Music is an iconic film based on an iconic play that made its Broadway debut on this day in 1959. It chronicles the life of Maria Von Trapp played by the most graceful Julie Andrews, whose aspiration to become a nun gets derailed when she becomes a governess to the Von Trapp children. … but perhaps the greatest spiritual message conveyed in The Sound of Music is that sometimes God leads us in ways we don’t understand as part of His plan for our lives. This is clearly demonstrated in the inner conflict Maria experiences when she finds herself falling in love with the captain Von Trapp.(Played by Chistropher Plummer – ever so charming).

The Sound of Music was filmed from March 26 through September 1, 1964, with external scenes shot on location in Salzburg, Austria, and the surrounding region, and interior scenes filmed at the 20th Century Fox studios in California.

Today we have these wonder Sound of Music tours singing the beautiful songs from the movie, which is definitely on my bucket list. (So Salzburg…. coming soon)

If people have seen it will make sense of my blog, if not I encourage you to watch it!

In the end I would like share the most beautiful songs’ I have ever heard since childhood is “Edelweiss ”

Edelweiss Lyrics……

Edelweiss, edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white
Clean and bright
You look happy to meet me
Blossom of snow
May you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss, edelweiss
Bless my home-land forever
Small and white
Clean and bright
You look happy to…
